Tell us something about yourself

When you register, you have to answer a few general questions about yourself, which takes just under 5 minutes. This will give us a better idea of which studies you might be suitable for. Your answers will be treated confidentially and will only be used to find the right studies for you.

FAQs

Any questions?

What can I earn?

You will earn money for each test but it is recommended only as a side income. The test may be irregular and the amount you earn depends on:

  • Duration
  • Type
  • Modalities (for example, on-site tests are compensated at a higher rate than online surveys)

How long does a user test take and where does it take place?

A user test usually takes between 20 and 90 minutes. Most of the time you can participate from home (e.g. online survey, interview via Zoom or Google Meet), occasionally the tests take place in our offices.

How often can I participate in studies?

We want to be really transparent with you – it may take a while before we offer you your first study. Please be patient with us, as the frequency of the studies depends on several factors.

  • Sometimes you are exactly the person we are looking for and sometimes you are not. We conduct many studies with many different groups, so even if you are not a match for one study you may well be a good match for the next one.
  • Once you receive an invitation to a study in your inbox, you will need to answer a few more questions so that we know if your profile is suitable for this specific test. The more questions you answer over time, the better we know your profile. This way, we can send you future invitations to tests that are better suited to your profile and it will be more likely that you can participate.
  • It’s also important that we can rely on you to arrive on time and answer our questions to the best of your ability. Then we’ll be more likely to invite you again in the future.

Keep in mind that we can’t guarantee the frequency of the studies so this is intended to be a side income only.

What are the requirements to become a paid tester?

You don’t need any specific education or work experience to become a tester. However, there are 2 very important traits:
Firstly, we would like you to answer our questions honestly and openly.
Secondly, if you agree to take part in a study it is important that you are on time. If you are unable to attend, please let us know that you need to cancel as soon as possible.

Who is behind the public administration opinion pool?

The Smart City Hub Switzerland association is the overarching organisation behind the opinion pool. The cities of Zurich and Winterthur as well as the cantons of St. Gallen and Thurgau can currently benefit from the pool.

How can I help the cities and cantons to improve?

By registering for the public administrations’ opinion pool, you can test innovations, contribute your personal view of things, think along and provide feedback.
The main focus will be on city and cantonal services that need to be improved and made even more user-friendly.
